Australian/American White Sheep
Meat the Future
Bringing home our first set of ewes in July of 2021 we knew they needed to work for us and our existing operation. Our non negotiable below are what have become the foundation of our flock. After starting with Katahdin ewes we felt led by God to help develop the Australian/American White breed here in the United States and purchased our first ram.
We are just at the beginning of our story of becoming seed stock producers for the Australian/American White breed here in South Central Kansas. We hope to help other family farms start their sheep flock with a solid foundation to help them become profitable. You can follow Kelsey’s journey of developing our flock on Youtube here.
Mothering.
Without the mother there is no lamb which mean no profit. Our ewes are set for a once a year Spring lambing. We favor a mother who can count *has twins* but we want a ewe who can lamb on pasture without mis mothering and raise a solid set of lambs that can make us money.
Easy Care.
These sheep need to work for us. Not the other way around. We have built our flocks foundation on parasite resistance sheep that are rotationally grazed behind 2-3 strand hot wire. No vaccinations are given and no hoof trimming. If they don’t work for us they can’t stay.
Low Inputs.
Along with working for us they need to be hardy. Minimal grain is given to our girls in the early Winter for flushing and before lambing to help lamb development. Our ewes are rotationally grazed on pasture during most of the year and dry lotted and given hay during the winter to save stockpile for our cattle.
